Statics

Statics deals with the bodies at rest under the number of forces, the equilibrium and conditions of equilibrium etc.
If two forces and are acting on a body on a straight line but in opposite direction and the body remains at rest or in equilibrium, then we say that and are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction.

If the two forces and are acting on a body on a straight line but in opposite direction and body moves in the direction of then we say that is greater than and the resultant force or net force is calculated as:
                                                                        -
   If = 10N and = 20N then,
                                                                       -
                                                                  20 - 10 = 10N
Hence the body will move by the influence of 10N in the direction of .
