The Spectrum

When light is passed through a prism in dark room a colorful band of seven colors is formed. This band of colors is called Spectrum.
Spectrum in fact shows different frequencies. The splitting of white light into seven colors(frequencies) is called Dispersion of light. There are two major kinds of a spectrum i.e Continuous Spectrum and Line Spectrum. In continuous spectrum there is no boundary can be detected two consecutive colors however in line spectrum there is well defined boundary between two consecutive colors.
