Reflection and Refration of Light

Reflection: When a light ray strikes a smooth shiny surface, after striking it bounces back, this phenomena is called Reflection of light.

Refraction: When a light ray enters from one medium (e.g Air) to another medium (e.g Glass) it deviates from its original path bends into the denser medium.

Due to reflection light spreads out just before the sun rise.

Due to refraction objects placed into water shows false position then their correct position.

Unique Property of Light

Light is a form of energy but it has dual nature i.e it behaves like wave as well as particle. Reflection and refraction supports the particle nature of light while interference and diffraction verify light as wave. But the unique property of light is its speed (velocity). Light covers 30 million meters in just one second.
